Freeze warnings, record lows, and rivaling Alaska. If your hangover has kept you bedridden all week, you need to know that it’s cold (very cold) in Phoenix.

The low temperature of the first full night of 2019 in the Valley just about broke a six-year record. The low at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport dropped to 30 degrees, just one degree shy of the record of 29 degrees on January 15, 2013. At one point Tuesday morning, Phoenix was colder than Anchorage Alaska. Yikes!

Oh, and if that’s not enough, it snowed in Scottsdale on New Year’s Eve.

Parts of Northern Arizona were blanketed by snow. Payson, Holbrook, and the Grand Canyon were among the places turned into a winter wonderland.

What now? Pay attention to freeze warnings that can affect plants and piping outside your home.
