PHOENIX — Twelve years to the day that they announced their hiatus, The Format has announced that the band is making a comeback!

The band is playing several shows across the country, including April 3 at the Van Buren in Phoenix, according to a Facebook post.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday at noon if you use the code FORMAT on their website.

Lead singer Nate Ruess may be more widely known for the band "Fun." but if you’re a Valley native, chances are you remember his rise to fame with the local group The Format.

Ruess and Sam Means toured and created music together as The Format from 2002-2008 before the band announced they’d be taking a hiatus.

Ruess and Means grew up as friends in the Valley and insisted during the band’s hiatus that they remained friends during the split and were both optimistic of a reunion at some point in their careers.

At this time, it’s unclear if the band will create new music, or if the reunion tour is just a one-time celebration of their time together.
