PHOENIX - True to his word, Chef Stephen Jones said his restaurant, The Larder + The Delta, has found a new home in Phoenix.
Jones said his southern-style restaurant will reopen at Portland on the Park, a condominium complex directly south of Margaret T. Hance Park near Central Avenue and Portland Street.
“I just love the area. I’ve been looking for something that felt like a neighborhood to me in downtown," he said. “A legit neighborhood, grass out front.”
Jones opened the restaurant within Desoto Central Market. He closed it in July with the intention to reopen in a larger space.
"This is the full version. It’s a full-service restaurant, we’re offering everything we couldn't at Desoto," Jones told ABC15.
Jones said the revamped restaurant will have a plantation aesthetic to it when it reopens in March 2018.
"When you walk in, you’re going to feel like you’re a part of the south, and what it is," he said. “Portraits, drawings, full plantation field, workers. And it’s going to be a place where people can hang out and relax and not feel too over the top. And eat good food."
It will be roughly 1,700 square feet with seating inside and outside. He said the plan is to seat between 70-72 people.
The restaurant will be open Tuesdays through Sundays, with brunch on Sunday.
