TEMPE, AZ — After 30 years on Smith Road in Tempe, Spinato's Pizzeria is moving to a larger building -- albeit less than a half-mile away -- and debuting a new look and menu.

Spinato's will close its restaurant at 227 South Smith Road at the close of business on Feb. 3, and reopen Feb. 18 within the "Rio 2100" complex at 96 S. Rockford Drive, a short 0.3 miles away from the original and just east of Tempe Marketplace.

The new restaurant will be three times larger than the old one -- 5,700 square feet -- and have seating for up to 190 people, a news release said. It will have high ceilings, a copper patina bar top, European tiles and lights made out of antique baskets. It will also serve alcohol, something the previous Tempe location did not have.

"Our new location will be a completely unique design compared to our others," Anthony Spinato, vice president of Spinato's, said in a statement. He said the kitchen will be open "allowing our guests to see the Spinato's family passionately at work." The other restaurant will transition to the new look "in the coming months," the release said.

When it comes to the menu, the restaurant will add pastas, jumbo chicken wings and house-made desserts.

They are hiring 60 people to work at the new location. Those interested can apply at spinatospizzeria.com/careers.

Editor's note: This story was updated to reflect that the two locations will be .03 miles apart, not 0.03 miles apart.
