Oscars 2017: five facts you did not know about this year's Oscars nominees

Soon the stars of Hollywood will take over the red carpet and the winners of "Best Picture" and "Best Actor" will be named.

But, how much do you really know about this year's nominees? In some ways, it's a record-breaking year.

  • La La Land has the most nominations this year with 14. That ties the record held by both All About Eve and Titanic.
  • Meryl Streep is the most-nominated performer in Oscars history. She has been nominated 20 times.
  • O.J.: Made in America is the longest film ever nominated for an Academy award. The run time is 7 hours and 47 minutes. It is nominated for Documentary Feature.
  • Matt Damon, nominated for Manchester by the Sea, is only the third person to be nominated in Acting, Writing and Best Picture categories joining Warren Beatty and George Clooney.
  • The following are first-time nominees in acting categories: Andrew Garfield, Mahershala Ali, Lucas Hedges, Dev Patel, Isabelle Huppert, Ruth Negga, Naomie Harris.
