Oktoberfest in Phoenix: 6 festivals and parties around the Valley

While the annual Oktoberfest festival still going in Germany, so are the festivals and parties here in the Valley.

Local breweries will tap their own Oktoberfest brews, hold Stein-holding competitions and serve German dishes. We rounded up some of the events happening around town.

Fountain Hills Oktoberfest (Sept. 29-30)
Where: Fountain Park, 12925 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills AZ 85268
Time: 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Admission: $5 (kids 12 and younger are free)

Fountain Hills' Oktoberfest event will have German beer, food and music. There will also be a bounce house and rock-climbing wall (both free) for the kids.

SanTan Oktoberfest- Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers (Sept. 30)
Where: Dr. AJ Chandler Park, 178 E. Commonwealth Avenue, Chandler AZ 85225
Time: 3 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Admission: $12. VIP tickets are sold out.

Reel Big Fish and Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers will headline the main stage at SanTan's annual Oktoberfest. There will also be wiener-dog races, a brat eating contest and pretzels.

Peoria Artisan Brewery (Sept. 30)
Where: 10144 W. Lake Pleasant Parkway, Peoria AZ 85382
Time: 12 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Admission: Free (beer and food available for purchase)

The Peoria brewery and pub will tap their Oktoberfest cask. They will also have music, a Stein holding competition, and authentic German cuisine.

State 48 Brewery Oktoberfest (Sept. 30)
Where: 13823 S. Bell Road, Surprise AZ 85374
Time: 1 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Admission: Free. (Food, drinks and games available for purchase)

State 48's will debut its Oktoberfest brew at its inaugural Oktoberfest event. It will also serve German food and have live music all day.

Pedal Haus Brewery (Sept. 30)
Where: 730 S. Mill Avenue, Tempe AZ 85281
Time: 6 p.m.
Admission: Free. (Food, drinks available for purchase)

Pedal Haus will have a Stein holding contest, Brat eating contest and a Polka band for a few hours. There will also be specials on German-themed food.

Four Peaks Oktoberfest(Oct. 13-15)
Where: Tempe Town Lake, 80 West Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe AZ 85281
Time: Friday, 5 p.m. - midnight, Saturday, 10 a.m. - midnight, Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Admission: Free. (Food, drinks and games available for purchase.)

Perhaps the largest Oktoberfest event in the Valley, Four Peaks Oktoberfest will take over Tempe Beach Park, Oct. 13-15. The waterfront will have live music and beer, as well as carnival rides and games.
