North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park to begin to close for season in October

The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park will begin to close for the season in October.

The lodge, gift shop and visitor center will either close or reduce their hours beginning Oct. 15.

The South Rim of the national park is open year-round.

NORTH RIM CLOSURES:

The Grand Canyon Lodge will close on Oct. 15, 2017. The last meal will be breakfast served on Oct. 16. After that, there will be no food service available, according to a news release. 

The lodge gift shop will close after Halloween, Oct. 31.

The North Rim Visitor Center will be open intermittently from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. through Oct. 31 and the Backcountry Information Center will remain open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. through Oct. 31.

Canyon Trail Rides will have its last mule rides on Oct. 15, according to NPS.

Campgrounds will take reservations through Oct. 31. Entrance and campground fees will continue, however, to be collected through Nov. 30, the National Park Service said.

All North Rim operations will close on Dec. 1, or possibly earlier if State Highway 67 is closed due to weather.
