TEMPE, AZ — ASU Gammage announced Tuesday that it would offer an in-person lottery for $25 tickets to see the Broadway hit, "The Book of Mormon," when the national tour stops at the Tempe theater for an eight-show run next month, Aug. 6-11, 2019.

However, unlike the previous lotteries for such shows as Wicked, Rent, Dear Evan Hansen, and Hamilton, which allowed people to enter via a website, those interested in the Book of Mormon lottery will have to come come to the theater 2 1/2 hours before showtime and enter.

Here is how the lottery will work:

  • People will be able to enter the lottery inside the theater's box office up starting 2 1/2 hours prior to that day's or evening's performance. To enter, people will write his or her name on a card and whether they are interested in one or two tickets.
  • Two hours prior to the performance, names will be drawn for a limited number of $25 cash-only tickets.
  • One entry is allowed per person.
  • Winners must be present to win and will have to show valid identification.

At last check on Tuesday afternoon, tickets were still available to all eight performances, though most of them were part of Ticketmaster's Verified Resale program. Pricing varied from $40 for balcony-level seating (furthest from the stage) to $250+ for orchestra-level seating (closest to the stage), at last check, but could fluctuate based on supply and demand.
