Tempe-based Cartel Coffee Lab is revamping the baked treats it offers in its cafes around the Valley.

While they've had baked goods for sale in the past, they're looking to oversee the entire process and make everything from cookies to scones themselves.

"The difference now will be that they're made entirely in-house, by our own staff, and with our creative input," said Jeff Yang, content and automation manager, in an email to ABC15.

He said they plan on having cookies, scones and vegan and gluten-free options. They've partnered with local businesses like Zak's Chocolate, Mount Hope, McClendon's Select and Steadfast Farms.

In 2010, they opened a bakery in one of their Tucson cafes.

"[W]e thought it was time to take what we’ve learned and bring it to Phoenix," said Yang.

On July 4, customers will be able to get a free Guatemalan chocolate chip cookie at one of their six Valley locations. View a list of locations, here.
