Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open cinema in Tempe next month.

The Texas-based dine-in theater chain announced the news in a blog post earlier this week. The theater said it would open in May, and that a specific opening date "is still to come."

It will be part of The Collective, a mixed-use redevelopment of the former Lake Country Village shopping center near Rural and Baseline roads.

The 33,000-square-foot theater will have seven screens and show a mix of movies including new releases, classics and independent films; 35mm projection; reserved seating; and a full bar in the lobby, according to the company.

It will be the chain's second theater in Arizona. Its first opened in 2016 near Arizona Avenue and Chandler Heights Road in Chandler.

Moviegoers can order meals, bottomless popcorn and drinks during the movie and waitstaff will bring it to them. View menu at Chandler location.
