Planter's says Mr Peanut has "passed away" at 104: Here's how to pay your respects

PHOENIX — Planters announced earlier this morning that their beloved, Mr. Peanut, has passed away at the age of 104.

"It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that Mr. Peanut has died at 104. In the ultimate selfless act, he sacrificed himself to save his friends when they needed him most. Please pay your respects with #RIPeanut."

To honor his memory, Planters is sending their the NUTmobile around this week and it will be making a few stops in the Phoenix area.

  • January 22 - from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Safeway at 1902 W Main Street in Mesa
  • January 23 - 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Safeway at 4747 E Greenway Road in Phoenix
  • January 25 - 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Safeway at 10773 N Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale
  • January 26 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at El Super at 7502 W Thomas Road in Phoenix and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at El Super at 5127 W Indian School Road in Phoenix
  • January 27 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at El Super at 2211 W Camelback Road in Phoenix and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at El Super at 3130 E Thomas Road in Phoenix

Mr. Peanut's funeral will take place on Super Bowl Sunday.
