PHOENIX — A man was found by rescue crews at Camelback Mountain Saturday morning after he reportedly didn't return home to his family the night before.
Phoenix Fire officials say the man went to hike Camelback Mountain Friday night.
His family grew concerned when the man did not return home that night and called the Phoenix Fire Department Saturday morning.
According to fire officials, a helicopter was sent over Camelback to look for the hiker. From the helicopter, rescue crews saw a body lying on a trail.
Fire officials conducted a rescue, and found the hiker in a ravine near the Cholla Trailhead. The hiker was found alive with severe head trauma, and transported to an area hospital in extremely critical condition.
