This is a dream come true for Malique Washington: he's reading the book he wrote and published himself in honor of his grandfather.
"Be a Star" encourages young kids to dream and be a star in their own way.
Malique portrayed one of his idols, Phoenix Suns Player Devin Booker, as a teacher in the story. Malique might not have been able to reach Devin to tell him about the book, but we did and decided to surprise Malique.
Monday morning Malique thought he was at Talking Stick Resort Arena to meet an ABC15 staffer as part of a follow-up story. What he didn't know was that Devin Booker and the entire team was at the arena.
Malique was finally able to tell his idol why he featured him in the book.
"You're young, successful for sure," said Malique. Ironically it's Malique who ends up autographing a book to his idol, someone who really proves that being a young star is possible.
