Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies investigating a suspicious death closed down part of a Sun City West neighborhood for most of the day Thursday.

A neighbor discovered the dead body in a red car near Bell Road and NRH Johnson Boulevard.

Police say the dead man is somehow connected to David Hague, who lives in a nearby home. The SWAT team surrounded Hague's home for more than an hour Thursday morning. They say he was confrontational with officers on the scene, then he ran back into the house.

“You look at a car with a dead body in front of the house,” Sheriff Joe Arpaio said. “I think it’s really good police work to call the SWAT team because you don’t know if there are other dead bodies in the house.”

During a search of the home, deputies found just one other person who was fine. Investigators say they took Hague into custody on an unrelated warrant, and he is an investigative lead in the death case.  Hague has refused to answer questions about the dead man, according to MCSO.

Neighbors say there were tense moments as deputies arrived to the scene with SWAT gear and shut down an entire block.

“The lieutenant came up to me,” neighbor Gordy Monten said. “He was asking about the condos and whether you could get through the attics, and I said, ‘Well, my wife is still there should she leave?’ and he says, ‘Yes.’”
