A 11-year-old girl was rushed to Phoenix Children’s Hospital on Tuesday after she was struck by a vehicle, according to the Peoria Fire Department.

The crash closed Monroe Street near 87th Avenue for several hours. The scene was on a residential street near a park.

Neither impairment nor speed is suspected as a factor in the crash, Peoria Police Officer Brandon Sheffert said.

Police do not believe the girl was wearing a helmet, and the car’s driver stayed on the scene after the crash.

The driver, described as a woman in her 40s, had not been cited as of Tuesday night, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
