Driver arrested after crashing into several City of Peoria vehicles

Police have arrested a man officers say crashed into several city-owned vehicles around midday Thursday.

Around 11:35 a.m., a city animal control officer noticed a white pickup hit Peoria Fire-Medical engine #194 in the area of 79th Avenue and West Golden Lane.

The Dodge pickup continued north on 79th Avenue to Olive, where it turned to head west. A Peoria code enforcement officer and police were investigating a separate crash in the 8600 block of Olive. The code officer's pickup was parked in the westbound lanes with its lights flashing, according to a release from the Peoria Police Department. A police motorcycle was parked in front of the code enforcement pickup and also had its lights activated.

The suspect pickup, being driven by 35-year-old David Flemm, continued west and and crashed into the city pickup before rolling and landing on its side.

Flemm was pulled from his vehicle and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The city pickup and police motorcycle suffered significant damage, while the fire engine suffered minor damage.

Flemm will face of a charge of driving under the influence upon his release from the hospital, police said. Officers said the crash remained under investigation, so additional charges are possible.
