West Valley law enforcement agencies are trying to determine the source of a loud noise that woke up many residents early Saturday morning.

ABC15 received multiple viewer inquiries about a possible explosion around 6 a.m. Viewers in Buckeye, Goodyear and other areas of the West Valley reported a loud "boom" that rocked them awake and shook their homes.

Buckeye Valley Fire Department says they heard a noise that sounded like rolling thunder from one of their Rainbow Valley fire stations just before 6 a.m.

They checked with US Geological sites to see if a natural phenomenon caused the "boom", but no earthquake or other activity was noted.

Additionally, Luke Air Force Base says they are not flying or doing any work today that may have caused the noise.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says they received many concerned calls and are circulating to find the cause of the noise, but still nothing has been found.

MCSO believes the noise originated in the Goodyear area. Goodyear's fire and police department are also looking into the cause, but have nothing confirmed.
