Glendale Fire officials say puppies died after they were attacked by bees on Wednesday.

Officials say a mother was at home with her kids near 61st and Glendale avenues when she heard her pets in the backyard barking and growling.

They found a beehive in the backyard, and the mother dog and her six puppies were covered in bees.

The homeowner and her 1-year-old were stung, but refused treatment from emergency crews.

Fire officials say the dogs suffered extensive bee stings and two puppies died from their injuries. A third puppy reportedly ran away, but there is no word on that dog's condition.
