Authorities say a shooting Friday afternoon involved an officer with the Glendale Police Department.

One of the department's officers saw a fight taking place between four people in a neighborhood near 63rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Shots were fired between one of the suspects and the officer, police said.

Glendale police say two people were injured during the incident. One person suffered minor injuries and the other's is believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect who fired shots fled in a silver vehicle, but was found deceased in the backyard of a home with multiple gunshot injuries. Investigators had not yet determined if the suspect's injuries came from the initial exchange of gunfire.

Police did say that there were no further suspects sought in connection with the incident.

The officer was wearing a body camera at the time of the shooting, however, it's unknown if the incident was recorded.

The officer is on paid leave pending the results of the department's internal investigation into the shooting.
