A wrong-way driver almost collided with 11 drivers overnight before striking one vehicle in Tempe.

The driver has been identified as 19-year-old Jahine Gregg. He faces charges of aggravated DUI, multiple counts of endangerment and criminal damage.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Gregg rear-ended three vehicles on the Center Parkway overpass before fleeing from the scene and traveling eastbound on the westbound lanes of Loop 202.

Eleven drivers then contacted 911 shortly before 2 a.m. claiming Gregg, traveling in a silver SUV, had almost hit them.

DPS said Gregg, who had a passenger in his vehicle, then collided head-on with a victim in another vehicle just east of McClintock Drive. All three individuals were injured.

DPS does suspect impairment but is investigating. Officials said Gregg provided them with several names that did not match his identity. He was treated and released from a Scottsdale after suffering minor injuries.

Officials said Gregg had a total of 16 victims, including his own passenger, since he endangered drivers 11 before coming into contact with one driver while traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway.

DPS said Sunday's incident, which happened around 2 a.m., was the second wrong-way incident reported overnight. A second incident involved a driver who was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Route 51 at the mini-stack.

Roadways were affected for several hours.
