It was an unexpected night for many ASU students on the Tempe campus after a water pipe break flooded their dorms.

A water pipe break caused damage to an area of Barrett, The Honors College in Tempe near Rural Road and Apache Boulevard.

About 160 students living in the Juniper Hall were not able to sleep in their own rooms on Tuesday night. Students tell ABC15 that ASU has offered to place them in a hotel for the night.

It's not clear how extensive the damage is to the housing complex, or how long it'll take to repair them.

ASU police tweeted out that the hall was closed to all people.

The City of Tempe said ASU handles their own water so this is not the city's responsibility to fix.

Stay with ABC15 for updates.
