Police are searching for a suspect who is accused of shooting and killing a man in a south Phoenix business.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday outside of a Valero convenience store near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road.

Phoenix Police say witnesses reported seeing a silver vehicle parked in the lot that was followed by a white vehicle. As soon as the driver, later identified as Aric M. Capers, in the silver car exited the vehicle, the suspects began shooting at him.

The victim reportedly ran into the business and a suspect followed, firing off another shot inside the store. Emergency crews treated the victim but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

All of the suspects then fled in the white vehicle and have yet to be located.

During the investigation, police learned there were more people in Capers' vehicle, but they too fled when shots were fired. The car was located nearby with no one inside.

A second victim, a 24-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, police believe those involved in the incident are known to each other, but there is no word on what led to the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Phoenix Police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
