The Phoenix Fire Department was called out to a west Phoenix home after a toddler drowned.

According to officials, two-year-old Vivica Camacho was submerged in the water, for an unknown period of time, at a home near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road before she was pulled out.

Camacho was taken to a hospital without a pulse; she was not breathing and she later passed away, officials said.

Officials said she somehow made it into the backyard while several adults were inside the house. The incident happened around 5 p.m.

“This time of year, you can’t leave a child alone for any amount of time at all because it doesn’t take any time for a tragedy like this to happen," said Lt. Pat Tortorici with the Phoenix Police Department.

It's unknown if there was a barrier around the pool, or if the child's parents were inside the house at the time. At this moment, there have been no arrests made as police continue to investigate the incident.
