One person has been transported to the hospital after a Phoenix Police officer was involved in a shooting early Friday morning.

The incident happened just after 3:00 a.m. near 33rd Avenue and Deer Valley Road in North Phoenix.

ABC15 crews on the scene say several roads in the area were shut down as a maze of crime scene tape lines the area.

Police say the suspect, described as a Moroccan man, was armed with a knife and advanced toward the officer before being shot. The officer involved in the incident was not injured.

The suspect is expected to be OK.
