A domestic violence incident in Phoenix left three victims with stabbing injuries overnight.

Police responded late Monday evening to reports of a domestic violence call at 17th and Glendale avenues.

According to police, the suspect used a kitchen knife to stab the first victim twice in the arm before the victim was able to obtain the weapon and stab the suspect.

Police say a second victim was stabbed in the hand after attempting to help the first victim during a struggle with the suspect for the knife.

SWAT was called out to assist after the suspect barricaded himself in the home threatening harm to himself. He has been taken into custody and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both victims are related to the suspect by marriage.

Police say alcohol was a factor.
