A bike thief in central Phoenix realized she picked on the wrong little kid, when a couple chased her down as she allegedly tried to steal their son's bicycle.

Juliet Easter said she was up early for work when she heard someone open their back gate. She got her husband just in time to see a woman riding away on their son's brand new bike.

"I yelled at her, 'Hey, that's my kid's bike.' And she yelled back, 'I'll bring it back, I promise.'  And that's of course a lie. So I ran back in, called the police and my husband jumped in the car to go look for her," said Juliet.

"It's not the first time I've chased down criminals -- thieves. It's the first time I caught them," said Scott Easter, Juliet's husband.

Crossing the street at 7th Avenue, Scott saw his son's bike and confronted the woman.

"She kind of dropped the bike and told me that she was looking for our street to bring it back," said Scott, adding that he didn't believe the woman.

The Easters said they called police and followed the woman to try and help make an arrest.  Unfortunately, the woman got away.

But the Easters said they would do it all over again.

"Because it was my kid," said Juliet. "Kids make you do things you might not normally do to protect them. Just, don't steal from children."
