The Phoenix City Manager's Office has a new addition to the other nine semifinalists in its search for a new police chief.

They say Deputy Police Chief Nathaniel Allen of Knoxville, Tennessee has been added to the list.

He replaces another candidate who has dropped out.

The semifinalist list still includes two internal candidates -- Executive Assistant Chief Dave Harvey and Assistant Chief Mike Kurtenbach.

Another candidate is former Phoenix assistant chief Jeri Williams, who currently is police chief in Oxnard, California.

Two other candidates are police chiefs on Arizona reservations -- Patrick Melvin of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and Kathleen Elliott of the Gila River Indian Community.

Phoenix is trying to fill the position before Chief Joseph Yahner retires in October. He was appointed in February 2015.
