A man is in critical condition after a driver struck him with a stolen vehicle and then left the scene Sunday night, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Investigators said the victim was crossing the street at 12th Avenue and Hatcher Road when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver stopped for a brief moment but then drove away, police said.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital in critical condition. His identity has not been released.
Police said they were able to locate and detain the driver at 27th and Augusta avenues.
Investigators said they believe the driver may have been impaired at the time of the crash.
