Officials are investigating after a vehicle collided into a home near 20th Avenue and Thomas Road on Wednesday night.

Police say the driver of a vehicle hit the home, fled the scene and then was later located by an off-duty DPS officer who was in the nearby area. Erin Hunt, 45, was tased and then taken into custody.

Firefighters were called out to the house to shut off a gas line at the home. People were relocated from the area for safety reasons, but this was temporary until crews fixed the leak.

Police do suspect impairment on the driver's behalf, however the investigation is ongoing.

The homeowner said the SUV smashed right into his children's room. And thankfully, they were in the bathroom at the time of the crash, getting ready for bed.

"All of sudden I just heard squeaky tires," said the homeowner Alexandro Silva. "I thought it was somebody just speeding. And then I heard the first boom."

"We just got out of the house because I just started smelling gas."

Silva showed pictures of bricks covering his children's bedroom, their toys peaking through the rubble.

"The baby's crib is in there and it's completely demolished," said Silva. "Everything is gone."

The family who was affected by the crash has set up a GoFundMe account.
