An arson suspect has reportedly surrendered after fleeing from a suspicious apartment fire overnight in Phoenix.

SWAT breached the door and the suspect reportedly put his hands in the air.

Phoenix Fire Department responded to a call for a fire in a complex near 40th Street and McDowell Road after 4 a.m. Saturday.

The fire reportedly began after two people were arguing inside one of the apartment units.

Crews were able to put out the fire, but one of the units sustained significant damage.

Police say a suspect reportedly fled the scene after the fire began and went to a nearby complex.

According to information on scene, one person was detained later in the morning, but it is not clear how they are related to the investigation.

The police stand-off reportedly resolved around noon with the suspect surrendering to police.

Phoenix Police say the area is still blocked off even though the situation was resolved.
