A Monday crash involving a semi truck, motor home and two passenger vehicles has left two 13-year-old boys dead.

Department of Public Safety officials said the commercial vehicle was traveling westbound on SR 98 near milepost 332 when it drifted off the edge of the road. The driver, 25-year-old Isaiah Parrish, overcorrected and ran his truck across the centerline, colliding with a motor home.

After crashing into the motor home, the semi truck also ran into a Nissan heading east. A Toyota driving eastbound between the motor home and Nissan also ran off the road and struck a boulder.

DPS said the semi truck struck the motor home with significant force, tearing it open and injuring everyone inside. Two 13-year-old boys died at the scene from their injuries. DPS said the driver of the motor home, 48-year-old Geoffrey Escandon, and five other passengers were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The drivers of the passenger vehicles and the commercial vehicle were uninjured.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
