The Buffalo Chip Saloon will begin construction this summer to replace what was lost in a devastating fire last year.

The popular Cave Creek establishment caught fire on Thanksgiving Day and burned to the ground. Videos of the fire showed a massive inferno that left residents and the owner in disbelief.

Since then, the owners have been securing permits to rebuild the saloon.

In a media release, the saloon said construction would begin in June. It will have the same look and feel as it did before, but will have a larger women's restroom, dance floor and better plumbing.

The Wagon Camp and BBQ Buffet at the saloon reopened in January and will remain open during construction.

It is open Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. - midnight and weekends from 11 a.m. - midnight.

A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Wednesday, May 25, at 10 a.m.
