Man arrested for shooting near U of A campus

University police have made an arrested in connection with a shooting near campus last week.

In a release sent Monday afternoon, University of Arizona police said 29-year-old Christopher Eugene was arrested for a shooting outside the Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building.

Officers found shell casings and blood near the building on Helen Street, but no victim.

A 23-year-old would later arrive at the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He told police we was approached by three men, one of whom shot at him several times.

Eugene was arrested around 7 a.m. Monday morning by campus law enforcement and the Tucson Police Department's SWAT team.

He is being held in the Pima County Jail on three felony charges: two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated robbery.

Online records indicate his bond was set at $5,000.

Police released a sketch of the suspect, but said they would not be releasing Eugene's picture because the investigation was ongoing.
