Police say a Phoenix man is a person of interest in an investigation into the death of a woman on Friday.

San Diego police responded just after 1 p.m. on June 10 to a report of a woman not breathing inside an apartment in the 7600 block of Mission George Road.

The woman, identified as 30-year-old Krystal Mitchell, of Phoenix, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the San Diego Police Department.

Mitchell was in San Diego visiting friends with her boyfriend, 32-year-old Raymond McLeod, also from Phoenix. Police said McLeod has left the area in a white, four-door Lexus or Infinity with paper Arizona plates and is a person of interest in the investigation.

The vehicle may have been abandoned near the airport or border between California and Mexico, and McLeod may have fled the country, according to a flyer from San Diego police.

McLeod is a former Marine and may have access to weapons, police said.

Anyone with information about the location of McLeod, McLeod's vehicle or the case is asked to call San Diego police at (619) 531-2000.
