A man was shot in the shoulder when he went into a stranger's home after being treated for a suspected overdose last week.

Phoenix police report that at about 3 a.m. on August 2, Phoenix fire personnel were treating a man for a suspected drug overdose. The man, later identified as 44-year-old Moses Soto, fled from paramedics that were treating him and ran into a home near 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road.

The homeowner reported to police that a stranger entered his home and his bedroom. He said the man was "grunting and yelling incoherently," as he advanced toward him.

The victim fired from his handgun, striking Soto in the shoulder and upper arm.

Soto has been charged with criminal trespassing.
