Movie nights in the park: Events planned in Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale

As the Fall season approaches, several cities around the Valley will host movies in the park. Guests can bring chairs, blankets and snacks and watch a family-friendly movie under the star-filled sky.

Below is a roundup of movie-night events that have already been announced. If more come into the newsroom, we’ll update our story.

PHOENIX CITYSCAPE

Phoenix City Scape hosts a monthly movie night in downtown Phoenix. You can bring chairs, blankets, and snacks. Here’s the schedule so far. The movies start at 6:30 p.m. View details here.

  • Oct. 14 – Ghostbusters
  • Nov. 11 – Hook
  • Dec. 9 – Home Alone 2 & Elf

TEMPE KIWANIS PARK

Head over to Tempe’s Kiwanis Park in October for weekly movie nights. You can bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic dinner. The movies will start at 6 p.m. in the north soccer field. View details here.

  • Oct. 14 – The Good Dinosaur
  • Oct. 21 – Angry Birds
  • Oct. 28 – Monsters University

 

MESA MOVIE NIGHTS

Mesa will have a monthly movie night at several of its parks throughout the next seven months. There will be free kettle corn popcorn. Guests can bring blankets, chairs and snacks with them.

  • Sept. 21 – Tangled (Monterey Park)
  • Oct. 15 – Goosebumps (Carriage Lane Park)
  • Nov. 5 – Elf (Porter Park)
  • Feb. 11 – Minions (Red Mountain Park)
  • March 10 – The Secret Life of Pets (219 W. Main Street, Silver Lot)
  • April 22 – Jungle Book (Harmony Park)
  • May 6 – Finding Dory (Mountain View Park)

 

GLENDALE MOVIE NIGHTS

Glendale’s movie night series kicks off on Oct. 7. Movies will happen each Friday evening at 7 p.m. Before the movie, special events are planned, which could include a performance or a craft. View details here.

  • Oct . 7 - Lilo and Stitch (Foothills Sports Complex)
    The Aloha Hapa Hula Dancers perform at 6 p.m. and will teach a class.
  • Oct. 14 - Jungle Book (2010) (Paseo Sports Complex)
    Animals from the Wildlife World Zoo arrive at 6 p.m.
  • Oct. 21 - Zootopia (Sahuaro Ranch Sports Complex)
    There will be a craft at 6 p.m.
  • Oct. 28 - Hotel Transylvania (Mission Park)
    There will be a craft at 6 p.m.
  • Nov. 4 - Finding Nemo (O’Neil Park Ballfields)
    There will be a craft at 6 p.m.
  • Nov. 18 - Minons (Youth Sports Complex)
    Minions Stuart and Kevin will arrive at 6 p.m.
