Posh Improvisational Cuisine - After eight years, Chef Joshua Hebert's closed his Scottsdale restaurant. However, he will be turning the space into "Chef's Lounge," a commissary space for chefs and a venue to host pop-up dinners.
Barrio Urbano - Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza announced at the end of June that she was closing Barrio Urbano at The Yard. In her Facebook post, Esparza cited rent prices, location, lack of signage and her health as reasons for the closure.
Blooming Beets Kitchen Arizona - The Colorado-based gluten-free restaurant shut its first and only Arizona restaurant less than a year after opening. The owner confirmed the restaurant was closed but did not provide a reason. The Colorado location will remain open.
Native Grill & Wings (Chandler) - A franchise location of Native Grill & Wings shut its door at the end of the month. The company's corporate office said the location closed due to "underperformance." The closing gained some media attention after an employee posted a note blaming the closure on Arizona's increase in the minimum wage to $10 in the last election.
Pizza People Pub - After nearly four years, the owners of Pizza People Pub closed their restaurant. They cited the rise in food costs, minimum wage increase, and an influx of new restaurants as reasons for the closure.
Social Box Neighborhood Eatery - Social Box also closed in June. In a Facebook message, the owner said an increase in operating costs and a decrease in revenue, plus new restaurants in the area were reasons for the closure.
Eklectic Pie (Mesa) - Eklectic Pie closed its Mesa location in June. The Chandler location remains open.
British Open Pub - The Scottsdale British restaurant closed its doors after 14 years. A notice of closure was posted on Facebook.
Stella - The Italian restaurant posted on Facebook on June 2 with a note saying it had permanently closed.
