The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued a Health Watch in Maricopa County on Wednesday as our pollution levels get worse.

A Health Watch means that levels of particle pollution will approach the federal health standards.

Anyone with respiratory issues should limit their time outside.

Additionally, burn restrictions are in place.

That means it’s a “no burn” day for Phoenix and surrounding areas in Maricopa County.

Anyone caught burning outside or even using indoor wood-burning fireplaces or stoves could be fined.

ADEQ also recommends these tips for Valley residents to keep the pollution levels in check:

  • -Avoid activities that generate dust, such as driving on dirt roads.

  • -Stabilize loose soils.

  • -Drive as little as possible: car pool, use public transit or telecommute.

  • -Avoid using gas-powered lawn and garden equipment.
