In terms of $, Brady is big 'Deflategate' winner

Posted

Even with a federal appeals court reinstating Tom Brady's four-game suspension Monday, "Deflategate" may not be over. It looks like Brady is going to continue to fight!

But who are Deflategate's winners and losers so far?

The three parties involved -- the NFL, the NFLPA and the Patriots -- have spent $20 million so far on legal fees. $20 million! So, the lawyers are clearly winners here.

But what about Tom Brady, who will miss the Patriots' Week 1 primetime matchup against the Cardinals in Glendale? He now has to forfeit four game checks.

But wait! Brady and the Patriots just negotiated a new contract -- and that new contract is going to save him big-time.

Under Brady's old contract, the suspension would have cost him over $2 million. The suspension will now cost him just over $235,000.

Brady was smart. He got out in front of Deflategate, picked up a new deal, including a $28 million dollar signing bonus, and he'll now save almost $1.9 million during the suspension.

And they say football players are dumb!
