Now that you've heard Colin Kaepernick's reasons for sitting during the National Anthem during Friday night's preseason game, and the 49ers and the NFL aren't going to press the issue, let me tell you what I think.

Because of that American flag, we all have the right to say what we want, protest what we want and do almost anything that we want, as long as it's legal and doesn't harm anyone else.

But I get it: People are upset. Heck, I'm upset.

Here's the deal: I go on rants all the time, so I can't really tell Colin Kaepernick that he shouldn't be upset about racial issues, or that he can't sit during the National Anthem.

But to me, this is pretty simple: The American flag represents all the reasons why we can protest. So, I really think it would've been a better move to honor those rights it provides, and stand during the National Anthem.
