On Friday, Arizona Diamondbacks World Series hero Luis Gonzalez once again made headlines for all the right reasons when he helped an 82-year-old woman escape from her vehicle following a head-on collision in Scottsdale.
Gonzalez and his friend, Art Cuffari, assisted passengers in both vehicles following the accident. Word spread about their heroism after Cuffari posted this video on Twitter.

On Tuesday, TMZ Sports posted video of Gonzalez, who's currently an executive assistant to the Diamondbacks' president, explaining the series of events from that Friday afternoon.
"We were just going down the road and we saw a car right in front of us just kind of barreling through, hit the median and jump the curb, and went across the other side of the road and hit a car going the opposite direction head-on," Gonzalez told TMZ.
"(We) jumped out of the car. (My friend) went to the other car and obviously I went to where the elderly lady was. And then the fire started breaking out into the car that hit her. That's when I really started to panic because I was trying to get her out of the car."
At that point, Gonzo tried to get the lady to open the car door. After being unresponsive at first, she was finally able to do so, although she didn't realize what had just happened.
"I told her the car behind me started to catch on fire and we needed to get out," Gonzalez said. "I didn't know if the car was going to blow or anything like that, so I was in a panic also, but trying to get her to stay calm and get her out of the car at the same time."
Gonzalez said the most important thing is no one suffered serious injuries, including the lady he assisted.
"It's just one of those things that you don't really think about it. You just react when it happens. And that's what we did: We just kind of jumped into action," he said.
