Where’s the best spot to get an incredible view of Mesa? In an 100-year-old Ford Trimotor.

It’s a plane that dates back to the 1920’s and birthed commercial aviation. Only about 200 were made, and lucky for Arizonans, there’s one taking off at Falcon Field Airport.

The relic seats eleven people, plus the pilot. It’s made out of aluminum, not reinforced aluminum, making it very old school and unique.

Pilot Cody Welch explained the plane is pretty fast, traveling at 95 mph. He also says the controls haven’t changed since the 1920’s so its easy to fly and safe.

When it’s time for take off, it’s an uphill climb to be seated, given the angle the plain sits at. There’s also the smell of exhaust fumes to look forward to, but the view is worth it as long as you don’t get motion sickness.
