A week-old javelina found in a trashcan is currently being taken care of at Tucson Wildlife Center.

According to a Facebook post from TWC, the animal was discovered by a construction crew last week.

With no herd reportedly in sight, the orphaned javelina was brought to the wildlife hospital for a health assessment. TWC says he is in good health.

"The little javelina will be in good care here at TWC until we can return him to his herd in the wild. If he can’t be returned, he will be introduced to another javelina herd, when he is old enough," TWC said.

Returning the baby to his herd all depends on the group hearing the sounds of the baby. TWC will record the baby's sound and calls before going to the location, where they will play the recording.

"If the herd hears the sounds, they will come for their baby! Once we know the herd is present, we bring the baby to the location and call for the herd again. Once they arrive, we release the baby back to his family."
