Scammers steal $20K from Valley woman

A 92-year-old Valley woman is praying for help after being scammed out of her life savings.

Hazel Huggins said she received a letter in the mail on Halloween announcing she had won one million dollars from Publishers Clearing House. All she had to do was donate $10,000 to their charity.

Huggins was tricked into giving away her financial information; not because she wanted to win the money for herself, but so she could give it to charity.

"It was terrible. But you know what the first thing I did was? I prayed for that man's salvation," Huggins said.

The scam artists took more than $20,000 from the senior. It was all she had left. Now members of her church, Thomas Road Baptist, are rallying around Huggins. They're trying to raise money for their fellow member so they can answer her prayers and make her whole again.

"I would love to see her be able to receive back what she had before," said Youth Pastor Joel Reiss.

If you'd like to help Huggins you can visit a GoFundMe page set up by the church.
