Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is warning consumers to be on the lookout for websites purporting to be affiliated with the state Department of Transportation.
Brnovich issued an alert Thursday that his office has received reports that a website with an address similar to the state's Motor Vehicle Division has been luring people into purchasing unwanted items.
According to Brnovich, consumers looking for "servicearizona.com" but type "serviceaz.com" are directed to a site that is operated by private parties.
Customers have inadvertently bought items such as a driver's license manual.
Brnovich says consumers need to be certain they are on a website of a governmental agency, not a private business.
He says customers should call an agency directly for verification if they are unsure about the website.
