State transportation officials say they're aiming highway safety messages at students on spring break because March has been the deadliest highway on Arizona roadways in recent years.
The Arizona Department of Transportation has started posting messages on many of its overhead message boards advising spring-breakers to slow down and to think of their mothers.
The messages will be displayed from Friday afternoons through Sunday evenings.
The department says March was the deadliest month on state highways and local roads from 2012 to 2014, with a total of 213 fatal crashes.
Statistics from 2015 aren't available yet.
