The Avondale Police Department made an arrest in a school threat investigation from earlier this week.

Police say Alonzo Vargas allegedly made threats over social media towards Westview High School students and faculty.

Vargas was arrested Thursday morning for his reported involvement of posting threats which caused disruptions to schools.

According to police, the threats are related to the “scary clown” threats that have been happening around the nation.

Vargas has been booked into the Maricopa County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges related to disrupting an educational facility, threatening and intimidating, and hoax.
