An unforgettable pain for a family this holiday season after a husband and his wife crashed while on a motorcycle on US 60 at Mill Avenue.

A Phoenix family is now grieving the loss of a wife and mother after she was killed. Ricky Olivarez said anytime he and Chrissy hit the road, it was their "favorite ride."

The couple was driving back from Superior at the time of the crash. He had no idea Saturday's ride back from Superior would be their last together.

"It was terrible," he said.

He said all he can remember is that the cars in front of him stopped quickly, forcing him to stop too when he was hit by a car. He was taken to an intensive care unit for his injuries.

His wife was also taken to the hospital, but he wasn't able to say one last goodbye.

The man, and his children, are now left with an empty heart.

"I didn't think it was real," said Brandon Bates, Chrissy's son.

And no one thought this could ever happen. Chrissy didn't have life insurance.

And the family wants to make sure you're covered.

"I see accidents daily, you never know it could be you or your loved ones," Bates said. "And unfortunately it was one of my loved ones."

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay with the unexpected medical and funeral expenses.
