A man in Tempe now faces an attempted murder charge after stabbing another man in the neck while on a city bus, officials said.

According to the Tempe Police Department and Tempe Fire Department, a verbal altercation turned physical on Sunday when Dwarn Taylor was involved in a verbal argument with Kenneth Rogers while riding on a bus around 11:31 a.m.

Police said Taylor stabbed Rogers on the left side of his neck with a knife, and he also threatened another passenger on the bus with the knife.

Fire crews were called out to the Tempe Transit Center near 5th Street and Forest Avenue over the weekend to treat Rogers who was transported to a hospital for treatment. Officials said he was talking and was in stable condition when taken to a hospital.

Police are charging Taylor with attempted murder and aggravated assault charges, however additional charges could be added, police said.
