You see them all around your neighborhood: power lines. They're hanging overhead and often times the lines are buried.

Salt River Project is hoping a weekend workshop will help construction workers, tree trimmers, roofers and painters realize just how dangerous coming into contact with electricity can be.

"If you have contact that goes through one of your limbs, it comes out of your foot, it's going to go through your vital organs," said Rick Waldrep with SRP.

The workshop is free but workers do need to sign up. SRP plans to use a live demonstration with electricity to show the life-changing results.

When: 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 25.

Registration begins at 5:30 a.m. Participants must be 18 years or older. The workshop includes lunch and a chance to win raffle prizes. Tree workers may be eligible for CEUs (A/U/T/M) from the International Society of Arboriculture.

Where: SRP’s PERA Club, 1 East Continental Drive in Tempe.
